Statement of Identity
As an American Writer & Composer of mixed Quebecoise and Louisiana Creole descent, I passionately combine a love of creative pursuits with a love of research. I am a writer and a composer. In both cases, my work involves multiple genres and forms.
As a scholar and a musician, I noticed that English Studies and Music Education approaches are rhetorically similar. The theory of English Studies remains relevant to the analysis of music literature and the technical writing involved in the texts for instructing performance methods and for teaching music theory.
I wish to assist in the advancement of Music Education by using my experience as a writer to develop documents that can better present musical ideas to students and amateurs.
My aim is to decode the mysticism around music so that it can be easily explained and understood by a wide variety of musicians. My guiding principle is that musicianship is like scholarship; it should be accessible to all those who wish to learn.
